On-demand courier service launched in Sydney

08.09.2014 20:01

Zoom2u, a new on-demand express courier service that claims it can save customers up to 40 per cent has launched in Sydney. CEO Steve Orenstein, formerly founder and CEO at Connect2Field, has set up the business “to shake up the courier industry”.

The Zoom2u service delivers any parcel within a 60km radius of Sydney’s CBD in three hours and enables the customer to track and connect with the driver to find out exactly where their parcel is. Zoom2u can also be used to deliver online orders to customers within the day with its ecommerce integration.

“The e-commerce boom in Australia has meant people and businesses are ordering products online, but don’t want to wait days to receive their goods. Like taxis, the courier industry is ripe for disruption. Very little has been done to improve the customer experience, so I’ve set up Zoom2u to change that and respond to customer demand,” said Mr. Orenstein.

Any individual or business can register online for Zoom2u or via the iPhone and Android app and nominate pick-up and delivery details.  Once the goods are picked up, the customer is able to track where the courier is in real time and how long it will be until those goods arrive at their destination. When the job is complete a notification is sent via email or through the app. Customers then have the ability to rate the courier’s service out of five stars.

Mr. Orenstein is well-known for building Australian technology businesses. He launched his first business at just 19 year old and sold his last venture, Connect2Field, to American giant Fleetmatics earlier this year.

“Our service is unique – we connect the customer with the courier in real time. Customers know where their courier is, exactly when they will arrive at destination and they can even call their courier if they need to. We’ve got law firms using Zoom2u to send important documents to their clients, telecom providers sending SIM cards to their customers as well as banks sending important documents,” he says.

Zoom2u plans to launch in all major states of Australia by the end of this year and then take on the rest of the world. Zoom2u will be open in Melbourne and Brisbane by the end of September.
